We have unveiled our new site at www.PotomacGroup.com. The Potomac Group online has a new look! We restructured and redesigned our web site from the ground up in order to improve its usability, make it more intuitive, and provide you with the information you want about us, our products and our services.

We have also improved our marketing and resource sections. Now you can find helpful sales tools, useful tips, and information about our services and staff much faster than before. Key changes include: detailed information on GT Access (available through Greenburg Traurig), an archived section of our weekly email News Updates, enhanced contact information for each of our departments, and much more!

We hope that you enjoy the new web experience, and, as usual, we would greatly appreciate your feedback!

Case of the Week:
The
“Typical” Premium Finance Client

Meet Mr. A, age 60. He has assets that are completely tied up in highly appreciated real estate that produces little to no current income. The real estate is family-owned and the family does not want to sell to purchase life insurance. The family owns very few assets other than the land.

Mr. A. realizes the huge liquidity problem his estate will face at death and would like to purchase insurance inside an ILIT to address the problem. But where will money for the premiums come from?  Premium financing is suggested as a solution, but does this strategy actually work in reality?  Often the answer is no. Common obstacles to financing premiums for this type of client are the inability of the lender to take real estate as collateral, the limited income of the client precluding them from paying annual loan interest, and the relative youth of the client making the economics of the transaction undesirable.

Even with these case facts containing all of the typical traits that make a premium financing case unfeasible, an effective strategy was crafted using premium financing, an ILIT and a GRAT. Ask us how!
